Welcome to Clear Thought Sport,
Its Golf season, no doubt about that! We’ve seen some exiting developments across the game this week: Tiger Woods returns, entering the PGA Tour event near San Jose. Thomas Bjorn takes the winning title at the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles and Dustin Johnson prevails at the Barclays FedEx tournament. Exciting enough?
So what’s the connection between Bjorn and Johnson, and something that, according to recent comments by multiple PGA Tour winner Rocco Mediate, Tiger might seem to be lacking? Visualisation. That winning, sublime focus perhaps?
In a recent interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, Mediate doesn’t feel that his friend is headed towards the top again with his current swing. Mediate even commented; “I love the way he plays, but I'm disgusted with what's going on with him because it's sad for our game,". "The physical motion is wrong," Mediate added.
As any serious golfer will agree, swing problems can often be put down to focus and lack of visualisation. You can work on your physical swing technique as much as you like, but as we can all see, this can only take even the best of the best so far. Clear thinking through visualisation techniques are what really channel that perfect swing that brings results!
